pre-production pitches

My 5 images that went with my story pitches for a possible senior thesis. In Pre Pro class, we pitch our ideas that we would like to make into a 2 mimute short for our senior thesis. We pitch 5 ideas, the class picks one, and then we work on it for the first half of the semester. For the second half of the semester we pitch 5 new stories and work on one till the end of the year. Then we pick one of our 2 developed stories to do for senior thesis. So these are my first 5 pitches.

And this one is the winner...
I'll be developing this story and my awesome husband will be helping me with the music.
He is starting to put his music online so you can hear 2 of his pieces here : http://soundcloud.com/sethbowser

First post of the year!

I'll start off the year with posting some of my work from last semester that  haven't put up yet.

First, the final drama painting. I like how it turned out :)

And next my one minute animatic. This changed SO MUCH and I'm going to be changing it even more. I'm going to rework the story it completely to pitch pre-pro because there are some things that just aren't working/aren't clear yet and my original idea for this got too big. I'm going to try to take it back to my original idea for the pitch. So here is the 1 minute version of it.

Here's another animatic. This is my animatic for my lipsync that I will be animating when I get back to school next week. This was really fun and I  can't wait to animate it.

And lastly my push pull exaggerated. I was so burnt out while working on this so there are things i like about it and things I don't like. and the sounds is so terribly cheesy. I just slapped something on there for turning it in. I will be changing it when I render it.

Looking forward to this year and all that it holds!!!

Value painting

So, i started off excited about this, then i ran out of time and dreaded this. oh well, its done. it's alright, but it could be so much better. anyways, here is my latest Drawing For animators project.

the bird has a little blue tint to it. he's sad, so he is blue. he was more colorful, but i forgot that we were only allowed to use one color. now that i look at it, i should have made it a little more blue or just left it out. it was more noticible in the photoshop file but here you can barely see it.

More stuff coming soon!!!! push pull animation and 1 minute animatic! yeah!

church stuff

I did for our church service this past Sunday. The sermon was called "ihurt" and it was about dealing with heartache and using it as an opportunity to reach out to God and to help others who are going through similar situations. We thought it would be neat to have the congregation watch me as I did the digital painting so I recorded myself doing it then speed up to about 6min. the actual piece to about an hour to make. Oh and Seth, my awesome husband, played piano in the background to go with it :)

Here's the video that was played at church with some pre-recoorded music from Seth. Its 2 of his pieces called "Breaking the Surface" and "Beneath the Surface"

Summer stuff

I haven't been art deprived this summer. I have been doing some art :)

These are some sketches. I've been working on sketching more and I have seen improvement this summer. I'm still not sketching as much as I would like but I'm sure I will get better at it.

The next few are from Bobby Chui's Sketcholoic contests. They were done really quick but they were fun to do. Of course I didn't win anything but I enjoyed the chance to participate in the contests and watch the interviews. The first one is a Wall street Cyclops for an interview with Nate Wragg. The second is my favorite childhood anime for an interview with Dice Tsutsumi. I was a die hard pokeman fanactic.

I think thats it for now. I might have some other stuff, I just don't know where in my computer it is :P

SIGGRAPH was awesome. I'm so glad I was able to go. It was a great opportunity to make new friends. meet other students from all over the worl, and talk to some amazing people. I really hope I can volunteer again next year in Vancouver!!!

Also, school is right around the corner. This summer went by pretty fast, mainly because we did a lot of family visiting. Its been a crazy summer of dealing with traveling, finances, jobs, vacation and family but it was a good summer. I'm almost ready to get back into the school routine.  I'm excited about my classes this semester but there are still a few things I would like to do before school starts.

Long time no post...

I know it has been a while. I don't have anything to put up right now but I did update my portfolio and my demo reel will be on there soon. I have had a crazy summer so far that has had me out of town more than at my home. The exciting new now is that I am currently in LA getting ready to be a student volunteer at SIGGRAPH! A lot of great opportunities await me here including a  scheduled portfolio review. I will get the chance to meet some important people n the film industry and get to work with other students that will most likely be my coworkers someday. I'm really excited and anxious for this so  hope everything goes well and that I can break out of my shyness this week...

Well, for the sake of actually posting some recent work, here is a WIP digital panting of my husband :)
I'm fairly new at digital painting. This is my first real attempt at it. There is a lot of work to do still but  digital painting is no longer as intimidating as I thought it was.
